Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel
Paraskeva Pyatnitsa Chapel - the orthodox chapel, one of the symbols of the city of Krasnoyarsk. It is located at the top of the Karaulnaya hill. This place is one of the best specific points of Krasnoyarsk. From this top the panorama of the most part of the city opens up. The great Russian painter Vasily Surikov often worked at this place.
Slightly below the chapel is a cannon – the well-known howitzer M-30 a sample of 1938, in memory of Cossacks - founders of Krasnoyarsk. With single shot it reports about approach of midday.
Today the chapel became a favourite place of visits for inhabitants and city visitors. There hundreds brides and grooms go here to make a declaration of love to each other and to native Krasnoyarsk city.
This symbol of the city decorates a ten-ruble banknote of new Russia.
