Monument to the commodore Rezanov
The name of the commodore Nikolay Rezanov is widely known because of the romantic love story. The Russian count and the Spanish beauty Conchita met each other and were separated. The story of this love inspired many poets and writers and causes the same admiration as Shakespearean Romeo and Juliette's story.
Why the monument to Rezanov was installed in Krasnoyarsk? On the back way from California to Russia (where he performed the most serious political work for the Russian-American mission) the count Rezanov fell ill and on March 1, 1807 Rezanov died in Krasnoyarsk. On March 13, 1807 he was buried on the Voskresenskiy Cathedral cemetery. His love Conchita was waiting for him for a year and only then she got to know about his death.
